Alex M. Gaines is available for hire as a Production Designer, Supervising Art Director, Art Director or Assistant Art Director for film/TV/commercials and a freelance designer for live performance and the themed/commercial industry. Alex is originally from Houston. He currently lives in Austin, by way of Los Angeles and St. Louis, and is willing and able to travel for work. He has an MFA in Scene Design and Integrated Media from CalArts and a BFA in Set Design and Technical Direction from Webster University. Alex spent his thesis at CalArts developing several original performances inspired by space elevators. In 2015, he joined IATSE Local 800 The Art Directors Guild. He is currently a two-time elected Councilmember of the AD Craft Council. He’s also a member of the AD Craft Negotiations Committee, DEI Committee and AI Technology Committee. Some recent credits include Art Direction for Walker, seasons 2 and 3, the Set Decoration department of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Supervising Art Direction/Art Direction for For All Mankind, seasons 2 and 3.
